Why do we have a Wiki?We now have a Wiki for our department so we are able to upload documents easily to share new ideas with everyone in both the middle and high schools. This tool is very user friendly for both teachers and students, alike -- I hope everyone enjoys learning about it, using it and incorporating it into their classrooms. With this Wiki we will be learning from one another how to best utilize a Wiki in the Foreign Language Classroom, so our Department Wiki could be used as a trial space for any assignments, projects or uploads any of us would like to design and use for our classes. This will also be a great way for us to share student work; we can upload any assignments completed by students that have been previously saved on any computer like essays, sentences, projects, PowerPoint Presentations, videos, audio clips of students' voices, etc. How do we get started?First, you must create your own page. In order to do so, you must click on "New Page" in the upper left hand corner. A blank page will then appear. Second, if you are writing in a foreign language (Spanish, French, Latin), you must do say in a Word Document and then copy & paste to the blank page, as Wiki Spaces do not allow you to type accents marks in the original document. Third, if you would like to add documents, simply click on "File" and choose the document you wish to add. If you would like to add a link to another webpage for students to visit, click on "Link" and type in the webpage's URL. Lastly, click on the "Save" button to save all of your work. If you would like, click "Save" as many times as you want to ensure your work will all set. DiscussionsIf you would like to get a discussion started between the Foreign Language Department or just teachers of a specific language, you can create that discussion by clicking the "Discussion" Tab on our Home Page. Once there, click on "New Post" and create your question or discussion topic.
